Young loves Kia and Jesse chose to wed in the grounds of his family’s grand castle-like estate on the Sunshine Coast. With the help of the creative minds at Twig + Grace, Kia and Jesse created a stately, elegant but romantic theme by combining the natural bush surroundings with opulent Persian rugs, dark red roses, natives and crystal.
The four bridesmaids wore either dusty pink or mushroom-hued gowns paired with a light brown smokey eye accented with apricot or peach, a natural peach flush on the cheek and pinky-brown lip.
Kia sourced her bespoke lace top from Poland and had a vintage layered organza full skirt tailored to fit her figure. The outfit was complimented with stunning green raw stone drop earrings. My dear friends from Rolling Scissors took charge of the hair and styled Kia’s long raven locks in loose curls with a fine gold headband the only adornment.
Kia sought me out after her first trial with a different artist did not go to plan. She was understandably quite nervous but we managed to translate her ideas into a naturally glamourous look that she was thrilled with.
Kia’s Australian-Asian heritage gives her skin a lovely warmth and she doesn’t usually wear much makeup. Her skin is combination/normal so we started by using a mattify primer (MakeupForEver Step 1 Skin Equalizer) to control any shine through the T-zone. Because at SHM we believe #realisbeautiful – we mixed an illuminating primer (Laura Mercier Radiance Primer) with a medium coverage foundation (MakeupForEver Ultra HD”N123″) to create a sheer subtle glow. To keep the foundation fresh and bulletproof we buffed in a mineral powder through the T-Zone (Kylie’s Professional Mineral Powder Foundation“Aphrodite”).
For any imperfections showing through the base I custom-colour mixed concealer and lightly pressed it where needed with a fluffy brush (Kryolan Dermacolor Palette). Kia’s face is a round shape so I gave some angular contour to really bring out her incredible cheekbones (Kylie’s Professional Mineral Cream Foundation”Coco” + Mineral Powder Foundation“Faith”) The complexion was finished with powder blush buffed in to cheekbones (DMT”Plum”, “Blush” + “Sunset”) and a dusting of highlight (Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder“Radiant Light”).
Kia desired some really full brows so I shaped them first with brow powder 1-2 shades lighter than her natural colour, combed through wax to add fullness, then added hair stokes with a matching brow powder to the arch and start of the brow (Lolo Brow Duo”Medium” + “Dark”).
Next I created a neutral base for the eye by pressing a cream shadow from lashline to crease and then blending out (Kylie’s Professional Mineral Transformer with Mineral Shadow“Bamboo”). I defined the crease and lower lashline with matte mid-brown eyeshadows (Urban Decay Naked Basics 2“Cover” + “Frisk”) and added rich golden accents to the lid with shimmer eyeshadow (Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar“Caramel”). To increase dimension and define the eye, I smoked a chocolate shadow into the upper and lower lashlines (Urban Decay Naked Basics 2“Undone”) for a little sultriness.
For the flutter effect I curled Kia’s lashes, added two coats of waterproof back mascara and doubled up with two sets of false lashes. I started with “Beautiful” strip lashes for length and definition, then added “Volumes” strip lashes in the centre to achieve more dimension and fullness for the eye (Helen Dowsley Lashes).
We decided to keep the lip natural to suit the tones in her makeup with a hint of pinky-brown gloss to accentuate fullness (Kylie’s Professional Mineral Lipstick”Malt” + Lipgloss “Spirit”). We also provided a post-kiss touch-up kit to repair any smooching smudges.
Kia says “I was so happy I found Sian! I could relax knowing my makeup was going to be perfect on my wedding day. My bridesmaids, my mum, my new mother and sister-in-law all looked so gorgeous too. Even with some rain, our makeup lasted the whole day. I highly recommend Sian.”
